Fall Winter 2019 2020 Fashion Week Coverage: Discover the 15 biggest Fall 2019 fashion trends from New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion week.

For Fall 2019, be ready to see a lot of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s inspiration. Like last year, vinyl is still in for fall 2019 but new emerging trends have taken New York, London, Milan and Paris runway by storm: feather, quilting bedding, dark flowers, cinched suiting, colored leather, statement hats, bows, and so much more.

1. Feather Fever: Biggest Fall Winter 2019 trend

Don’t be afraid to add some feathers to any of your outfits: hat (Marc Jacobs, Loewe), belt (Cedric Charlier), coat (Valentino), hems (Loewe), all over (Prabal Gurung, Saint Laurent), shoes (Saint Laurent), etc.

  • Valentino
  • Loewe
  • Prabal Gurung
  • Burberry
  • Sacai

2. Quilting Bedding – Matelasse: Fall 2019 Fashion Runway trend

In case Fall 2019 is very cold, the designers have got you covered! Go out with your favorite box-stitched coverlet for a stylish look!  This cozy trend took the runway by storm (Martin Margiela, Courreges, Dior, Marine Serre, Christopher Kane, etc.)!

  • Cedric Charlier
  • Gabriela Hearst
  • Maison Margiela

3. Cinched Suiting: Fall 2019 Fashion trend

The 80’s have inspired many collections this year: the power dressing is back. Think bold shoulder, color block and power suits. Regarding suiting, it is all about the belt. Lanvin, Tibi, Prada, Dries Van Noten, J.W. Anderson have cinched their blazers for a more structured silhouette.

  • Dries Van Noten
  • JW Anderson
  • Givenchy
  • Lanvin
  • Altuzarra
  • Tibi
  • Brandon Maxwell
  • Jonathan Simkai
  • Khaite
  • Prada

4. Dark Florals

Florals are usually reserved for Spring Summer. This fall, florals are prominent on the runway. However, they are not associated with a boho/folk silhouette but more with a mix of gothic/grunge aesthetic (Alexander Mc Queen, Prada, Balmain, Dries Van Noten, Marc Jacobs, etc.).

  • Alexander Mc Queen
  • Balmain
  • Chloe
  • Dior
  • Dries van noten
  • Givenchy

5. Colored leather

Black leather pieces are always on trend but if you want to be a step ahead go for colored leather (Fendi, Chanel, Acne, Altuzarra, etc.).

  • Fendi
  • Altuzarra
  • Chanel
  • Cedric Charlier
  • Acne
  • Celine
  • Alexander McQueen
  • Akris

  • Christian Cowan
  • Christopher Kane
  • Salvatore ferragamo
  • Simone Rocha
  • Zimmermann

6. Put a bow on it – Pussy bow blouse

The pussy blow blouse, a staple of the working woman in the 70’s is back. If your blouse does not have a bow, just tie a vintage scarf. This trend was seen on Celine, Balenciaga, Chloe, etc.

  • Celine
  • Balenciaga
  • Brock Collection
  • Chloe
  • Saint Laurent
  • Dior
  • Marc Jacobs
  • Valentino
  • Miu Miu
  • Issey Miake
  • Dior
  • Nehera

7. Statement Hats

Designers are into statement hats (Tom Ford, Koche, Dior, Loewe, etc.). If your hat is too simple (beanie or bucket hat), just add some embellishments on it: feather, lace, etc.

  • Dior
  • Chanel
  • Tom Ford
  • Koche
  • Loewe
  • Marc Jacobs
  • Saint Laurent
  • Valentino
  • Dior

8. Checkerboard

Checks are a recurring fall pattern. This season, think checkerboard (Loewe, Dior) or houndstooth (Chanel) instead of plaids. You can also mix small checks with bigger checks (Dior, Victoria Beckham). The preppier, the better.

  • Loewe
  • Dior
  • Chanel
  • Chloe
  • Dior
  • JW Anderson
  • Paco Rabane
  • Victoria Beckham

9. Dual colors

Inspired by the 80’s color block, this season game is to mix a pink or red color with another one for a bold contrast (Alexander Mc Queen, MSGM, Tom Ford, Valentino, etc).

  • Tom Ford
  • Alexander McQueen
  • Valentino
  • Prabal Gurung
  • MSGM
  • Victoria Beckham
  • Jacquemus
  • Gabriela Hearst
  • Christopher Kane
  • Balenciaga
  • Atlein

10. Gorpcore – Sherpa style

Functional outdoor clothing got a promotion! The mountain chic trend is raising where the cozy elevated fleece jacket is the new star.

11. Abstract art prints

Tribute to Saint Laurent and its 1965 Piet Mondrian collection, or simply tribute to the arts? Abstract, geographic prints have inspired many designers this season (Isabel Marant, Christian Wijnants, Zimmermann, etc.).

  • Christopher Kane
  • Zimmermann
  • Burberry
  • Christian Wijnants
  • Isabel Marant
  • Colline Strada
  • Chanel
  • Sacai

12. Dress over pants

Play the layering game to stay warm and chic this winter by styling a dress/skirt over pants.

  • Balmain
  • Chanel
  • Altuzarra
  • Loewe
  • Victoria Beckham

13. Not so ugly sweater

The 70’s sweater is back and it won’t look outdated if it is styled with skirts and boots.

  • Chanel
  • Altuzarra
  • Chloe
  • Etro
  • Sacai
  • Chanel
  • Victoria Beckham

14. The chic revealing: Side Cut Out

Be ready to reveal your ribs instead of your décolleté (plunging neckline)- the new sexy chic.

  • Dion Lee
  • Courreges
  • Saint Laurent
  • Christopher Kane
  • Christian Cowan
  • Mugler
  • Olivier Theykens
  • Prabal Gurung
  • Versace

15. Accessory trends

Itty Bitty Bags

The micro bag is “so summer 2019”. For fall 2019, go for the itty bitty bag. It has absolutely no functionality except looking edgy & pretty. Ridiculous? Maybe, but you can think of it as the new jewelry trend.

  • Givenchy
  • Givenchy
  • Dior
  • Jacquemus
  • Chanel
  • Balenciaga
  • Prada

Jewelry detail: statement chain

Statement chocker chain gives an edgy look to any sophisticated look.

  • Tom Ford - Chain
  • JW Anderson - Chain
  • Acne - Chain
  • Adeame - Chain
  • Saint Laurent - Chain

Vintage Logo

The logo mania was not as strong as the previous seasons. But we can notice that big fashion houses are currently revamping their logos for a more vintage look (Burberry, Longchamp, Gucci). May this trend be bigger next season?

  • Longchamp
  • Burberry
  • Gucci
