The woman’s black leather jacket is one of the favorite French girl staples to achieve an effortlessly chic look. As a French woman, I can tell that my friends and I are always speaking about our leather biker jacket, also called “The Perfecto”! There are many options on the market, and I tried many of them. One of my favorite high-quality, affordable lambskin leather biker jackets is the Sezane one.

Although it is an iconic, stylish piece, the designer leather biker jacket is (very) expensive as it uses premium leather: lambskin. Indeed, lambskin is the softest type of leather, and it has this buttery finished that aged well over time. Keep in mind that you will wear your leather jacket for at least the next ten years. So quality is key.

I love the Sezane Zig leather jacket. This jacket is a true Parisian staple. I saw many girls wearing it in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, and each time I loved how it looks! So I decided to try it by myself.

Fit and size

The fit of the jacket is very similar to an Iro jacket: fitted and a bit cropped. If you are between two sizes or you prefer to wear a sweater underneath, take a size up. I am a XS and petite, so the size 34 (my regular size) is perfect for me. Overall the fit of the Zig Jacket is perfect and similar to any designer jacket.

The leather biker jacket style

I love the design of this jacket with its hardware which gives a rock/tomboy touch. Nonetheless, there is not too much hardware which makes the piece more versatile. Also, there is no buckle belt with this jacket, which is easier to mix and match with many items in our wardrobe: dress, denim, wool pants, sweatpants, jumpsuits, skirts, shorts, etc.

Quality

This lambskin leather is really good for this price point and is a perfect alternative to a designer jacket. That’s said, if you are an owner of an Iro ($1250/jacket) or Saint Laurent leather biker jacket ($4500/jacket), you will be able to tell the difference.

Chrome-free tanning

Sezane doesn’t use chrome for tanning its leather jackets. It is a more sustainable approach as no hazardous chrome, heavy metals, or acids are released in nature (Source: Nera tanning, ChromeFree.org). However, it should be noted that chrome-free tanning still uses chemicals. Read this article to learn more.

Sezane also mentions working with audited factories in India to see if they respect recognized industry standards.

Sezane is really a great brand that cares about its customers by creating high-quality wardrobe staples at an affordable price and manufactured with ethics in mind.
